Call for Abstracts - Young Scientists Scholarships

2. Deutsch-Japanisches HIV-Symposium am 24. November 2006 in Bochum / Abstract-Einreichung möglich bis 1. November 2006
After a very successful First German-Japanese HIV-Symposium in November 2005 in Nagoya we are proud to announce that the Second German-Japanese HIV-Symposium is now due to take place in Bochum (Germany) on 24. November 2006. Three broad areas will be covered: basic, clinical and social science. Contributions will be from both German and Japanese researchers. The aim is to become mutually acquainted with the research landscapes in both countries and on that basis to further develop exchange and joint projects.
Thanks to the support by government of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia we now have the opportunity to extend the scope of the event to young scientists. If you have terminated your doctoral studies less than 10 years ago, please feel encouraged to submit your abstract regarding your current work and recent data on HIV/AIDS from a basic, clinical or social scientific background.
From all submissions, the 5 most outstanding contributions from both Japan and Germany will be allocated a space on the poster walls as well as a scholarship covering travel expenses and overnight stay to take part in the symposium. In addition, during the week following the symposium, the 5 selected Japanese young scientists will have the opportunity to take part in a week’s round trip through Germany to visit outstanding HIV research sites. These visits will provide the opportunity to initiate more long term forms of cooperation incl. research fellowships, exchange, joint scientific studies or any other sort of cooperation.
In addition to that, all other abstracts which are accepted by the scientific board will be allocated a space on the poster wall throughout the symposium. All abstracts will be made available on our website www.daignet.de to a wider audience. We would like to encourage poster presenters to participate in the symposium so that the occasion can be used for networking. Participation at the symposium is free, however, please note that travel expenses and overnight stay for these contributions cannot be covered by the organizers.
Abstracts should be in English and should not exceed one page. Please provide the following information: title, contributing authors, affiliation to institution, contact author incl. postal address, telephone, fax, Email, date of termination of doctoral studies
